Treach Explains His Beef With Vinnie

Treach Explains His Rift With Vinnie

Rapper Treach shocked longtime Naughty By Nature fans when he blasted bandmate Vinnie (aka “Vin Rock“) and claimed Vin had been “fired” from the group via Twitter earlier this week. Vin responded by tweeting that you “can’t fire the owner,” which has prompted Treach to release a diss track aimed at his longtime partner called “Tall Midget,” and he explained to AllHipHop why he’s fed up with Vinnie. “We never wanted to be the group that goes though anything that we can’t resolve on our own, or anything else,” Treach explained. “Nobody—me being Treach, Kay [Gee] and Vin [Rock] being Vin – is larger than the group. We came [in] on some ego-free sh*t. Now, when somebody comes and gets larger than the group, it’s gonna be a problem.”

“If you see any of our albums, it says ‘written and produced by Naughty By Nature,'” he continued. “Because, homie you, [Vinnie], was somebody that was over there beat-boxing and break-dancing and any lyrics you had anywhere, was written for you. Don’t never get larger than the group. The producer and the writer of the group are always like ‘we, we, we,’ not ‘me, me, me.’ Even if you don’t do sh*t, we gonna make sure you taken care of for the rest of your life.” Treach also revealed that he and Vinnie haven’t really interacted on a personal level in about two years.

Family Of Emmett Till Want Mountain Dew To Drop Lil Wayne Over Lyrics

The trouble between Wayne and Till’s family began when a leaked version of Future’ssong “Karate Chop” hit the net in February. “Pop a lot of pain pills/Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that p*ssy up like Emmett Till,” Weezy raps in the song.

Till was brutally murdered in 1955 at the age of 14 in Mississippi for allegedly whistling at a white woman by the name of Carolyn Bryant. Bryant’s husband Roy and his half-brotherJ. W. Milam took Till, who was visiting from Chicago, from his uncle’s home to a barn where they beat him, gouged out his eyes and shot him in the head. They later tied him to a cotton gin fan and tossed his body into the Tallahatchie River. He was found three days later. When his body was returned to Chicago, his mother insisted his casket be left open so the world could see the brutality of his murder.

Epic Records, Future’s label, reached out to the family. Chairman and CEO LA Reidpersonally apologized during a phone call and promised to pull the song and remove the offensive lyrics. Wayne still has not issued an apology to the family. Now they are preparing to try to convince Mountain Dew, a product of PepsiCo, to drop the rapper according toAllHipHop. A similar outcry by UltraViolet resulted in Rick Ross losing his endorsement deal with Reebok.

Bond for Gucci Mane Is Set at $75,000

gucci_30

Gucci Mane is currently serving time in Fulton County Jail for turning himself in after he was accused of hitting a soldier at an Atlanta nightclub. Gucci’s lawyer Drew Findling says his client plans to post bond in Fulton County. Afterwards, Gucci will be transferred to DeKalb County, where his lawyer says he has a hold placed on him. The reason is probation for a unconnected misdemeanor charge. Gucci was previously denied bond during his last hearing that made him remind behind bars. As reported by AllHipHop, “Mr. Davis has a history, we’re not going to skirt that issue,” Findling said. “That history made it difficult for him to get bond today.” The rapper was indicted on Tuesday for one count of aggravated assault. Back in March, James Lettley says he wanted to take a picture with Gucci, but was attacked in the head with a champagne bottle.

Yo Gotti and his CMG label has just inked a partnership with LA Reid’s establishment. As part of the multi-million deal, Epic Records will distribute the goods provided by Cocaine Muzik Group. Says Gotti.

“This is a solid partnership that allows me to do what I do on bigger platforms, with the respect and support of the Epic team,” explains Yo Gotti. “Throughout L.A. Reid‘s career, I realize he has been a part of creating some of  the biggest superstars in the industry. I feel there is no better person to partner with. After my meeting with L.A. Reid, Benny Pough and his staff felt like Epic would be the perfect home to further the growth of CMG.

“A lot of labels were talking big checks, but the money didn’t interest me,” explains Gotti. “I wanted a partner that wasn’t afraid to work as hard as I do. I knew that by sticking to my independent business mind frame and continuing to chase my dream, that the right situation was going to come. The independent success we’ve had thus far with our tour, merchandising and projects from myself and my first artist Zed Zilla has given me the perfect opportunity to create the best possible partnership for CMG,” Gotti says. “I have no doubt that we will take our movement to its pinnacle with Epic Records.”

Naughty By Nature’s “Uptown Anthem” Centerpiece Of Copyright Lawsuit

New Jersey rap trio Naughty By Nature and their publishing company Warner-Chappel Music have become targets of a copyright lawsuit from vaunted music company Sugar Hill Music over their smash hit “Uptown Anthem,” according to an exclusive report from AllHipHop. At issue for Sugar Hill Music is the hook of “Uptown Anthem” and the phrase “we gonna” – which makes up the bulk of the high energy hook (“we gonna break! we gonna smash!”). In a recent filing with the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, Sugar Hill Music notes that Naughty By Nature sampled the phrase from Funky Four Plus One‘s “That’s The Joint” a total of 41 times.

The lawsuit states that the single is being commercially exploited and is infringing on Sugar Hill Music’s original copyright. Although Treach, Vin Rock and DJ Kay Gee aren’t named in the lawsuit, Sugar Hill is asking that Warner-Chappel release all profits made from the track along with additional damages, profits and other related costs due to the infringement. Originally recorded for the Juice movie soundtrack in 1991, “Uptown Anthem” got single treatment at the top of 1992 and became one of the group’s most notable hits in their two decades-plus career. Ironically enough, Naughty By Nature performed this past March in Asbury Park in New Jersey after an airing of a documentary on the Sugar Hill Gang at the Garden State Movie Festival. via:hiphopwired

Rick Ross Sued For $226K Over 15-Minute Performance

Rick Ross Sued For $226K Over 15-Minute Performance

From no-show’s to impostors, some Hip Hop artists are notorious for their lacking live performances. Now, it appears that Rick Ross has been hit with a lawsuit for turning in a paltry 15-minute performance.

According to AllHipHop, the MMG impresario was recently slammed with a $226,000 lawsuit over a less-than-satisfactory performance. SM Global Union agreed to pay Ross $90,000 for an hour long set, but the Miami rapper walked off stage after only 15-minutes.

Ross isn’t the only emcee named in the lawsuit, however. SM Global Union is also suing tour-matesMeek Mill and Waka Flocka Flames for breach of contract after both failed to promote the event on Facebook and Twitter as contractually stipulated.

This isn’t the first time the Bawse has been sued for the quality of his live show; last year, Nigeria’s Cross River State sued him after he bailed on its Calabar Festival.
